My First Wildlife Guide

If anyone is wondering how I came to write a wildlife guide for the island of St. Martin, I think this photo will pretty much explain everything. It’s a scan of the cover of the first wildlife guide I wrote, about the property surrounding the house where my Aunt Diane and Uncle Henry live near Sonoma, California. By Mark Yokoyama, naturalist.

I believe I was about 8 when I wrote this. So, on the one hand, I’m just some guy writing wildlife guides and on the other hand, I’m a guy with 30 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE WRITING WILDLIFE GUIDES.

Special thanks to Diane and Henry for saving this for thirty years so I can share it with you today. Also, thanks to the generous backers from yesterday: Greg Clayman, Susan Piscione, Nancy Collins and Jeff Safran.

If you haven’t had the chance to support this project yet, today is the day. You’re not just helping publish an awesome book. You’re not just helping advance science and education in the Caribbean. You are helping make a childhood dream come true!
