Ant Mimic?

You win some and you lose some. I had some time to kill in Marigot yesterday, so I figured what better way to spend it than shooting photos of wildlife in the middle of Marigot. In most ways, it isn’t the ideal place to find wildlife, but on the other hand, I often find interesting insects when I am limited to a less than ideal environment. Basically, if I’m stuck looking at a couple plants in the middle of an urban area, I have no choice but to really look carefully, and usually I find something.

This is a photo of what I thought was an ant. It was tiny and very ant-like, but when reviewing the photos on the computer today, I realized it may be some other kind of insect mimicking an ant. Unfortunately, it was so small I couldn’t get any really good photos (and I didn’t try as hard as I could have, because I thought it was just an ant). If you want to know how hard it is to get photos of super-tiny stuff like this, try taking a picture of a sesame seed and see what it looks like.

Anyhow, perhaps I’ll see it again and perhaps I won’t. Maybe next time I have some time to kill in Marigot.

Now, Hercule Poirot may help to solve it’s ID mystery. Bravo & thanks for all your important nature survey and people enlightenment.
