2nd Year Night Heron

If you are interested in birds, I recommend liking the page for the SCSCB, the Society for the Conservation and Study of Caribbean Birds. You’ll get bird conservation news and plenty of great photos and information about birds that live in our region. I learn something new there most days.

For example, I just learned that this is a 2nd-year yellow-crowned night heron. It looks much like the adult, but the yellow crown on the top of the head is not yet yellow.

Follow the SCSCB on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/CaribbeanBirdsSCSCB

To see the first-year and adult plumage of the yellow-crowned night heron, download The Incomplete Guide to the Wildlife of Saint Martin.
